The court heard that on the day in question Mr Rutanhira arrived home unexpectedly and found Zhou and her lover having a good time in the house. The court further heard that Mr Rutanhira ordered his wife to open the door but she suspiciously took time to open and this angered the husband, who could hear Zhou and her lover speaking in hushed voices in the house.
Zhou opened the door and confronted her husband questioning him as to where he had been and what he wanted at the house when he had said he would not be available for the night, the court was told.
The court heard that Mr Rutanhira tried to enter the house but Zhou kept on blocking his way by standing in the doorway. When she realised that she could not keep him out any longer, she took a pot full of hot porridge and threw it into his face before disappearing into the darkness, the court was told.
Mr Rutanhira sustained first-degree burns on his face and was rushed to Neshuro Hospital. A police report was made leading to Zhou’s arrest.
