A HARARE man bashed his former wife, accusing her of bringing boyfriends into their matrimonial home.
Sharon Mushonga successfully applied for a protection order against her ex-husband, Tafaranazvo Mudzviti, who she said had turned her into a punching bag.
She also accused him of verbal abuse.
“We are no longer husband and wife, but he keeps returning to abuse me. He accuses me of being a witch who brought misfortune in his life.
“I am afraid of him because whenever he comes home, he beats me up and shouts at me, accusing me of bringing men into the house.
“He even abuses tenants, whose rent money helps me with the upkeep of our children,” said Sharon.
In his defence, Tafaranazvo said:
“We are still together and never separated as she stated.
“Our differences came when I lost my job.
“I asked her if we could go and stay in the rural areas because I couldn’t afford city life, but she refused.
“I love my wife and children and I only visit them when I want to see how they are doing, not to abuse them.”
Magistrate Rutendo Machingura granted Sharon the protection order.
