A MAN from Highfield suburb in Harare has been dragged to the Civil Court by his wife, who is accusing him of bringing his girlfriends into their bedroom.

Chiedza Chinembiri from Machipisa alleged that her husband Chenjerai Mhezi is in the habit of infecting her with Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI).

“I have been catching him with different women in our matrimonial bed. Whenever l confront him, he becomes violent and starts to assault me using weapons like knives,” she said.

Chinembiri cited an incident where her husband forced her to wash the blankets he had slept in with his girlfriends and to dispose of the protection that he had used.

Chinembiri claimed that she is suffering from emotional abuse since her husband has no respect for her.

“I asked him politely not to use our matrimonial bed with his women and find somewhere to go, but he refused and started to harass me and even threatened to kill me,” she said.

Chinembiri claimed that she has sought treatment for many STIs and her husband has never assisted her in paying the bills despite being the one responsible.

She added that her husband also sold some of her household property and squandered the money with his girlfriends.

“I once asked one of his girlfriends why they use my bed and she said that my husband is the one who insisted on doing that,” Chinembiri said.

Mhezi denied the allegations, claiming that his wife is the one who is cheating on him.

“She is responsible for all the misunderstandings between us since she is having an affair with a man in our neighbourhood,” Mhezi said.

Asked why he forced his wife to wash the blankets he had used with his girlfriends, Mhezi said it was his wife’s duty to clean the blankets regardless of who had used them.

Presiding magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam granted the protection order in favour of Chinembiri and warned Mhezi to refrain from abusing his wife.
