Wild Boys’ Sakubva move sanctioned

matches paving the way for the rescheduled game between Shooting Stars and Gunners to be played there tomorrow.
Shooting Stars have made the move to Mutare after entering into a deal with businessman Esau Mupfumi.
But the Wild Boys could not bring the Premiership action to Manicaland last Thursday after the league’s grounds inspection committee ruled that all was not in order.
Yesterday PSL chief executive Kenny Ndebele said the wait is now over as top-flight football action returns to Mutare tomorrow.
“I have talked to the grounds inspection committee and understand that the venue has now been sanctioned to host matches.
“On my part, I am yet to see the report but I gather from Mr (Kenny) Marange that whatever defects that needed attention have been sorted out.
“So the match between Shooting Stars and Gunners will be at Sakubva.
“It’s likely that any other future Shooting Stars’ home games will also be at Sakubva,” said Ndebele.
Yesterday, Shooting Stars chairman Lewis Matindife was relieved that they have now been cleared to use Sakubva.
“We are happy that the clearance has been granted.
“There were a few issues that needed to be sorted out like the bumpy area between the goals posts.
“The corner flags were also not enough but I am sure that has now been taken care of.
“We are likely to play the mid-week game against Gunners at the venue,” said Matindife.
Shooting Stars are hoping that the move to Sakubva will increase the revenue being generated from the gates for their home matches.
Transport operator Mupfumi has undertaken to ferry the team from Harare to Mutare and back for their home matches while the Wild Boys are also hoping to get support from the Mutare business community and fans.
The Wild Boys had a dress rehearsal in Sakubva when they hosted Dynamos in a friendly tie on June 4.
Tomorrow: Shooting Stars v Gunners (Sakubva)
Saturday: Zimbabwe Saints v Shooting Stars (White City), Black Mambas v Shabanie (Morris Depot), Motor Action v Masvingo (Motor Action Sports Club), Blue Ribbon v Masvingo United (Gwanzura), Chicken Inn v Gunners (Luveve), FC Platinum v Kiglon (Maglas)
Sunday: CAPS United v Dynamos (National Sports Stadium), Highlanders v Hwange (Barbourfields).

Mutare has been without a Premiership team since Eastern Lions sold their franchise to Bantu Rovers while Highway were relegated at the end of 2009 season.
Reports last night indicated that Shooting Stars, who lost their 10th game of the season when they were beaten 0-1 by Shabanie, had parted ways with coach Partson Ndabambi.
The Wild Boys are now targeting Rodwell Dhlakama.

While Shooting Stars have shifted their base to Mutare, CAPS United have resisted the temptation of playing their high profile derby against Dynamos at Rufaro.
The Green Machine have been using the National Sports Stadium for their home matches and will host DeMbare at the spacious venue when the two teams clash in the Battle of Harare on Sunday.
