ONE of Zimbabwe’s ecotourism and tour operators, Wilderness Safaris says it will next year open the new Linkwasha Camp in the Hwange National Park. The company’s chief executive officer Keith Vincent said the camp was set to open in May and would offer one of the most luxurious accommodations in the area.

“We are making a commitment to invest in this destination based on our tremendous belief in Zimbabwe as a major player in Africa’s tourism industry,” he said.

“We are confident that we will be able to offer an exceptional wildlife experience, with a level of luxury on a par with what guests would associate with our Botswana camps.”

The company has more than 18 years of experience in Hwange with two private concessions in the most productive wildlife areas of the park.

“Located in a game-rich private concession in Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park, the camp will be the most luxurious accommodation on offer in the area.

“Situated on the same site as the old Linkwasha, the new camp is perfectly located far away from public access areas but close to Ngamo, which offers fantastic summer game viewing to add to the excellent winter viewing within the Linkwasha concession,” said Vincent.

Linkwasha Camp has been designed to complement the ecotourism company’s other two properties in the concession, Little Makalolo and Davison’s Camp.

The properties each cater for the needs and budgets of different markets.

The new camp is expected to offer seven en-suite double or twin luxury tents and one family tent, accommodating 18 guests.

“All rooms will include coffee- and tea-making facilities, small bar fridges, ceiling fans and outdoor showers.  Activities will make the most of the exceptional year-round wildlife-viewing opportunities the area has to offer, with regular sightings of large herds of elephant and buffalo, prides of lion, and an abundance of plains game and birdlife.

“The concession’s savannah grassland habitat is the ideal environment for walking safaris, as well as interpretative game drives led by highly experienced Wilderness Safaris guides,” he said.

Wilderness Safaris has been in operation since 1983 and at the moment owns markets and operates more than 50 camps and safaris in five Southern African countries namely Botswana, Namibia, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
