Ghanaian housemate Elikem who last week moved to the Ruby House from the Diamond House could be the talisman that could save Zimbabwe’s representative Pokello in the reality show, Big Brother Africa The Chase. Pokello is facing a possible chop from the $300 000 chase tomorrow, after she was nominated five times on Monday. She is on the chopping board together with fellow Rubies, Malawi’s Natasha and Neyl from Angola. From the Diamond House Annabel and Biguesas are facing eviction.

Zimbabwe’s Hakeem last week survived eviction and this week his name was not part of those facing the firing squad.
The presence of Alikem in Ruby seems to have suddenly awoken Pokello from her slumber. Some would call it the game changer as the Zimbabwean has upped her game.

Her strategy seems to be working as harsh words from followers of the show from across Africa have waned.
Even the way she handled herself after Ghanaian Selly poured alcohol on her at last Saturday’s party earned her kudos from housemates and followers of the reality show.  The mother of one also put the icing on her survival cake through her superb poem and art, during the Head of House task on Thursday Night. It made viewers realise that the Zimbabwean was not all about painting her face, but was highly intelligent too.

Followers of this reality show are however, fickle and anything can happen. The recent case of the booting out of the chase of South Africa’s Koketso is an example.

Africa had every reason to send LK4 on the next plane to Uganda because of “playing” two women… as for Koketso she did not deserve it.
Some blame her for getting engrossed in her relationship with the LK4 instead of playing the game.

If Pokello is to survive this weekend, she has to make sure that she does not fall in the same trap. The feisty beauty has to make sure that her budding relationship with Alikem does not shadow her strategy to play the game till day 91.

Though she is not as popular as her country man, Hakeem, Pokello stands a chance to walk away unscathed tomorrow.  Besides coming out of her cocoon she is facing the axe together with inconsequential and boring characters like the two Angolans Neyl and Biguesas. Though housemates find Natasha annoying and overbearing, she is Pokello’s the real threat.

The other dynamic is she is not competing against the two Nigerians Beverly and Mervin in the Diamond House.
In the history of the reality show, Nigerians who are scattered all over West Africa are known for going all out to save their own. This would have seen Pokello battling it out with two strong contenders, thus weakening her chances, as she will not get the West African, let alone the Rest of Africa (ROA) vote.

In the meantime, Zimbabweans wait with abated breath to see who will Biggy send home tomorrow night.
For those who want to vote for Pokello they can SMS, the words “VOTE POKELLO” to short code numbers Econet 33334, Netone 15626 or Telecel 15626 or log on onto the Big Brother website and vote.
