WILL the MAID finally be located to provide evidence, and get it tested, in Ronald Ngwenya’s rape case?

Is she even alive?

Those are the big questions ahead of the resumption of the rape trial of the nightclub manager.

He is accused of raping his 13-year-old niece.

The proceedings have been delayed by the inability to locate the maid, who is a key witness.

The schoolgirl alleged that Ngwenya fondled her private parts and raped her, while covering her mouth, on December 9 last year.

He is alleged to have aped her again after a short while.

The maid was the first person informed about the alleged rape and is considered a crucial witness in the case.

Ngwenya denies the allegations, stating that he had raised the girl as if she was his daughter.

He claims the accusations are malicious and have an ulterior motive.

During his last appearance, presiding magistrate Clever Tsikwa ordered the State to summon the investigating officer to inform the court about the difficulties he is facing securing the witness’s attendance.

So far, prosecutor Loveit Masuku has led evidence from the minor girl in camera.

In his defence outline, Ngwenya said he was shocked by the accusations.
