SEAN Williams will captain Zimbabwe for the three-match Twenty20 International series against Pakistan which gets underway at Harare Sports Club on Wednesday.
Williams, the substantive Test captain led the team against Afghanistan in the T20Is in Abu Dhabi last month and will once again be the skipper against Pakistan. Brendan Taylor and Craig Ervine have made a comeback after good displays in the just ended domestic Twenty20 competition. Luke Jongwe, who last played international cricket in January 2016, has also bounced back after he was named in the squad of 15.
The uncapped trio former Under-19 batsman Tadiwanashe Marumani, the exciting 19-year-old batsman who scored four fifties in five matches in the just-concluded T20 competition, seamer Tanaka Chivanga and spin bowler Tapiwa Mufudza are the other new faces in the side.
Questions marks still linger on the continued selection of left arm spinner Wellington Masakadza who continues to be selected while he is off form. The 27-year old just picked up one wicket for Mountaineers in the T20 competition is the squad of 15, while someone like Ainsley Ndlovu of Tuskers, with eight wickets is selected among the reserves.
