WINDY, cloudy and cool conditions are anticipated in Matabeleland South, Masvingo, Manicaland, and Southern Midlands on Tuesday and Wednesday next week, with temperatures expected to drop as low as nine degrees Celsius in some areas.
A joint advisory from the Meteorological Services Department and the Department of Civil Protection urged members of the public to keep warm and dress appropriately.
“Cold and relatively moist winds from the south-southeast are expected to strengthen Monday evening, July 7, 2025, and will further intensify on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, before weakening by Wednesday, July 9, 2025,” the departments said.
This influx of cooler air from the southeastern coast of Southern Africa will lead to windy, cloudy and cool conditions, with temperature drops of up to nine degrees Celsius in some areas, for instance, from approximately 25 degrees Celsius to 16 degrees Celsius.
In addition, other regions are likely to experience scattered clouds and cool conditions, accompanied by occasional light breezes, making evenings particularly chilly.
A gradual warming trend is expected to begin on Thursday, July 10, 2025, as the winds subside.
The departments also advised the public to consult health practitioners for guidance on preventative measures against colds and flu. It is recommended to use a brazier or open fire for warmth, ensuring that rooms are well-ventilated to avoid hazards.
