WHITE City Stadium in Bulawayo is set to host music royalty on Saturday, as an all-star cast of musicians descend on the City of Kings on Saturday for what is expected to be a multi-genre extravaganza.
Sungura legend, Alick Macheso, Winky D, South African Hip Hop king Kwesta, Master KG, Murumba Pitch, German-based Rap Queen Awakhiwe, as well as Chill Spot Family’s DJ Levels and Fantan are just some of the artistes that are expected to grace Bulawayo for the launch of Swan cigarette brand in the city.
Other artistes who will take to the stage include, multi-award-winning Rhumba outfit Insimbi ZeZhwane, Botswana’s Vee Mampizi, Toss, Ma N9ine, Sandra Ndebele, DJ Mzoe, Madlela Skhobokhobo, while Star FM’s Babongile Sikhonjwa and Ndumiso Skywalker will serve as the masters of ceremony.

After similar gigs in Harare, Beitbridge and Mutare, Swan’s Ushewokunze Mutemwa said all was on course for the musical extravaganza in Bulawayo. The purchase of two US$1 packs is all that is needed to gain entry into a gig that features some of the hottest talent from Southern Africa.
“Preparations for the Bulawayo Edition are going very well, we have a lot of surprises in store for those who will be attending. But people have to be there early. It’s going to be a fun day and we are looking forward to seeing everyone from the region and beyond. The soccer is always going to be fun,” Mutemwa told Sunday Life.
Organisers had decided to invite a wide array of artistes from various genres, due to the fact that Bulawayo was a melting pot of culture and heritage, Mutemwa expressed.

“We prepared a diverse range of acts, so as to cater to the multicultural nature that is Bulawayo and Matabeleland. We feel it will be a good mix of local and regional performances and we are expecting our artistes to give off their best,” he said.
Mutemwa described Swan as a fun brand, hence the decision to bring together such a high-powered roaster of artistes.
“We are a fun brand, we want to get away from the taboos of the industry. Feedback has been fantastic and we are pushing forward to being a brand of choice. We are proudly Zimbabwean and that’s a message we are trying to get across.
“Our consumers are very discerning, we are all about quality value in terms of our products. Those who like it will adopt it and we feel the majority of our segment will be able to differentiate quality affordable taste and choice,” he said.
