Bulawayo is indeed the place to be this week as the who is who in the country and artistes who matter in the music industry are in the City of Kings for the ongoing Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.People will be spoilt for choice tomorrow as a variety of entertainment activities have been lined up for them. The Bulawayo Amphitheatre will be one of the places to be tomorrow as there will be a dancehall invasion with performances from Harare-based dancehall stars, Winky D, Shinsoman and Jah Love.

But Dendera Kings frontman Sulumani Chimbetu who is meant to perform with the dancehall artistes is a very doubtful performer as he has other performances lined up in Zambia.

In an interview yesterday, Sulumani’s manager Joel Nyamupinda said the Batai Mhunu hit-maker would not make it for the Bulawayo show as he will be at a carnival in Zambia.

“We were supposed to play in Bulawayo but there is a problem as we were also invited to Zambia for a carnival on the same dates as the show,” he said.

However, the Bulawayo show promoter, Tafadzwa Maridadi said all hope was not lost saying Sulu would perform in Bulawayo alongside his father’s brother Allan.

“I am aware Sulu is booked to perform in Zambia, but he will be here for the Bulawayo show too. He will be the first artiste to perform at the show so that he can catch an early flight back to Harare the next day, so as to get to Zambia in time for the carnival,” said Maridadi.

Shinsoman, the Mawayawaya hitmaker, confirmed his attendance at the show saying Bulawayo fans should brace themselves for a night to remember. Other dancehall stars, Judgment Yard and Legendary Sounds, will also be in town for a performance at Horizon Pub and Grill tomorrow.

Gospel lovers will also be spoilt with a performance from Harare-based Sunshine City Choir who will have a live DVD recording at the Word of Life auditorium. X Mile will also perform at the event which has been dubbed “Happy people concert”.
