Winky D set UK Sama Festival 2011

The festival coincides with King Alfred’s birthday bash.
Winky D will share the stage with exciting talent in the form of the UK number 1 dancehall artist Gappy Ranks, BKay & Kazz, Decibel, Jusa Dementor and Ogga Katalog, while the eminent King Alfred would be on the decks alongside many other top DJs.

The supporting acts are awe-inspiring performers themselves, with Gappy Ranks having been nominated for an accolade at the MOBO Awards 2010.
Second time around this year, the UK is Winky D’s next stop in a trailblazing international tour in 2011 which has seen him mesmerising capacity crowds in the United States, Canada, Australia and Malaysia. Y2K Entertainment Promotions, in conjunction with King Alfred, one of the most revered Zimbabwean DJs in the UK, has already put in place everything for an awesome festival that is expected to attract capacity crowds in Leeds, London and Coventry.

On Friday August 26, 2011, The Wardrobe in Leeds will be on fire when Winky D performs, with Jusa Dementor and Ogga Katalog being the supporting acts while guru DJ King Alfred and others will complete the galactico line up.

The bash moves to London’s newly refurbished Club 19 the next day, Saturday August 27, 2011, where Winky D and Gappy Ranks will be supported by BK & Kazz, Jusa Dementor and Boyz Retonaz. Once again DJ King Alfred will be on the decks. The fun-filled festival winds up on Sunday August 28, 2011, at Club Ice in Coventry with Winky D and Decibel squaring up, while hit-master King Alfred and other notable DJs will be there as well.

Winky D’s manager, Bartholomew Vera, says the “Takaipa Takaipa” star cannot wait to rock the UK again.
“Winky is the first young Zimbabwean to go on a worldwide tour and the shows in Malaysia, Canada, Australia and the United State have been great, the numbers have been great and Winky has been great,” he says

“Winky always does the unexpected and the last time he performed in the UK what happened was also unexpected with him giving a great performance and people being turned away because it was a full house. We hope for another huge turnout because we’ve got new tunes, like “Kiswa Bhutsu”, plus the Ninja President always has something up his sleeve.”

Y2K Entertainment Promotions’ objective remains focused on promoting young Southern African musicians. It endeavours to provide a safe, sound platform for such to showcase their talent and to gain more exposure and become international artistes.
