SOUTH African gospel diva and entrepreneur, Winnie Mashaba, has landed in the capital, for a familiarisation tour.

During the visit, the songbird, who has also established herself as a television presenter back home, is set to collaborate on a song titled “A Friend” with Tatenda Mahachi.

After working on the audio, they will also record visuals of the track, to complement the song.

Speaking to H-Metro, shortly after touching down at Robert Mugabe International Airport on Monday night, Winne said she was really excited to be in the country.

She said she was fond of  the Zimbabwean music beat.

“I have always wanted to do a collaboration with artists from the SADC region and l also love the way you guys play the guitar, which l wish to learn.

“I also have a Shona verse to sing as well  and I am very excited,’’ she said.

Mahachi, who has also collaborated with the late South African singer Sifiso Ncwane, said:

“The name of the song is called ‘A Friend’ and everyone needs one in hard times.

“This will also be my first time collaborating with a female artist and the song will be released this week.

“It’s also not my first time to collaborate with a South African artist,” said Mahachi, who has been concentrating on big collaborations.

Mahachi said he has learnt a lot from collaborating with big artists.

Locally, he has collaborated with late national hero Oliver “Tuku”Mtukudzi, among others.

He is also eyeing regional giants for collaborations as part of his audience building mission.

Mahachi has also been investing in videos to ensure he penetrates the international market.

A versatile singer, Mahachi has been in the game for over a decade.
