LEONARD Zhakata says he enjoyed interacting with other music stalwarts at the just-ended Sungura Fest held at Pamuzinda Highway Xscape.
He shared the stage with Alick Macheso, Somandla Ndebele, Peter Moyo and Mark Ngwazi at the event, which coincided with the last day of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show.
Chipaz Promotions, under the leadership of Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, was behind the sungura musical fete.
“It really feels good interacting and performing with other sungura artistes, under one stage,” he said.
“I applaud the event organiser (Partson Chimbodza) who came up with this concept.
“It feels good to note that people still appreciate the genre like this.
“It was indeed our day and I will always cherish such events,” the usually media-shy Zhakata said.
Added: “There is a lot that we have for our fans but we won’t give them half-baked stuff.
“It’s better that we take our time in the studio making sure that we come up with something that fans will always cherish for years.
“We don’t rush to give fans half-baked stuff.”
Meanwhile, Zhakata’s camp has lined up a series of countrywide tours, as well as regional shows, before year-end.
He also promised his fans a new album and it remains to be seen whether he will beat the deadline or not.
