Winter shouldn’t distract us from studies

THE second term is upon us.

This is usually one of the most challenging learning periods because of the low temperatures.

Personally, I struggle to wake up in the morning but I am never late for class.

Also, I have challenges studying late into the night due to the chilly weather.

Thus, I often study best during the day.

As learners, we need to develop a good and practical study routine during this time of the year.  Without doubt, it is best to study during the day as the effects of the cold will be a bit minimal. However, there is a temptation to waste time sunning.

It is usually hard to study while sunbathing as one often starts daydreaming or falls asleep completely.

In that regard, I urge fellow learners to be disciplined. Those who can study late into the night or wake up early should feel free to do so.

Just do not do things that will make you hate school at the end of the day.

Winter just lasts for a couple of months.

If we do not prioritise our studies, we will find the going tough in the coming months.

This is particularly so for those sitting their final examinations.

Let us be strong and stay focused.

Besides, we need to learn to manage such situations as they will always be with us even after school.

After completing school, some will get employed while others will become employers. But whatever the situation, one has to work to earn a living.

So, if you choose to rest, sleep or stay in the comfort of your home because of the cold spell, then you are likely going to face serious challenges in life.

Bear in mind that Zimbabwe is among countries with the finest weather in the world.

Every time you think it is too cold here, always remember there are countries that experience much colder conditions.

Some countries get regular bouts of snow in winter. One needs to consider how it snows in Europe.

So, let us be vigilant as we go into the second term.

All the best in our studies, guys.
