Witbank target Mpofu

FORMER Highlanders, Chicken Inn and Bantu Rovers coach Mandla a?Lulua? Mpofu has become the latest gaffer to be linked with a South African National First Division side.

Mpofu, who assumed the position of head coach for the national Under 20 side following the departure of Jairos Tapera to another Mzansias National First Division One outfit Black Leopards, has reportedly been recommended to join Witbank Spurs as an assistant coach to clubas chairman and head coach Themba Mafu.

a?I have forwarded Mandlaas curriculum vitae to Witbank Spurs. I had to recommend him to the club because I believe he is one of the Zimbabwean coaches with a good CV,a? said Swaziland-based coaches broker Dingane Maduna.

Mpofu is a holder of a CAF A coaching licence and he has worked with a number of esteemed Zimbabwean coaches that include the late Adam a?Adamskia? Ndlovu, Methembe Ndlovu, Dumaza Dube, Mkhuphali Masuku and Bongani Mafu among others.

Witbank Spurs are home to Tendai Ndoroas twin brother Takudzwa and former Highlanders midfielder Peter a?Rioa? Moyo.

Ex Bosso striker Cleopas a?Ballotellia? Dube has been with the club since 2014 before his recent permanent move to the newly promoted Absa Premiership side Baroka FC on a three-year deal.

Meanwhile, How Mine and CAPS United areA set to lose strikers Charles Sibanda and Dominic Chungwa to Black Leopards. The two were reportedly part of the 25 foreign players that were being assessed byA Leopards last week.

a?Dominic (Chungwa) was part of the 25 foreign players that were assessed at Black Leopards by head coach Jairos Tapera who will need to send quite a number of them packing. You know Nigerians, Senegalese, Ghanaians and even Zimbabweans are all over the world playing football. But I think Zimbabweans are justified to be in South Africa because Mzansi is itching to see another Knowledge Musona, Willard Katsande or Khama Billiat being unleashed,a? said Maduna.

In his post match interview last Sunday, How Mine coach Kelvin Kaindu said: a?Sibanda was attending trials in South Africa and he is likely to sign there.a?

Leopards are also reportedly keen on assessing red-hot Southern Region Division One Soccer League leading scorer Nhlanhla Ndlovu who turns out for Victoria Falls based Amagagasi.

Ndlovu is also a Highlanders and Dynamos target.
