A WOMAN from Cowdray Park suburb in Bulawayo is living in fear after her neighbour, who is in the habit of accusing her of practising witchcraft, claimed she unleashed black cats to cast a spell on his daughter.
Msizikazi Moyo said her neighbour Mosva Manjokota was also accusing her of trying to kidnap his other minor child.
According to Moyo, the witchcraft accusations being levelled against her by Manjokota had tarnished her image in the suburb.
Moyo said in the first instance, her neighbour confronted her around 8am and shouted at her, branding her a witch and accusing her of sending black cats to bewitch his daughter.
Manjokota claimed his daughter screamed in the middle of the night and complained that she was seeing Moyo in her dreams, unleashing black cats at her.
Moyo said her neighbour later confronted her once again, accusing her of stalking his other daughter with the intention of kidnapping her. She engaged elders from the community to talk to her neighbour over the matter but their efforts were fruitless.
She then applied for a peace order against him at the Western Commonage Court.
“I’m applying for a peace order against my neighbour, who is accusing me of bewitching his daughters,” she said in her affidavit.
“He claimed that his daughter saw me in her dreams while bewitching her and he also said on the same night his other daughter failed to sleep claiming she was seeing two cats that I had sent to torment her.“On another occasion he confronted me at my house and claimed that I was stalking his minor child with the intention of kidnapping her during the night.” In response, Manjokoto said: “I once saw her following my children and after that, they started to experience strange dreams and they fell sick. When I saw her stalking my children, that is when I asked her to refrain from doing that.” Presiding magistrate Sikhethile Moyo granted Moyo a peace order. Manjokoto was ordered not to insult Moyo or visit her at her place. He was also ordered not to make false accusations against his neighbour. — B-Metro

Cop swallows bribe money
DESPERATE times call for desperate measures! A police officer stationed at Tshabalala Police Station, who was allegedly caught red-handed taking a US$5 bribe from a motorist at a roadblock, quickly swallowed it and urinated on himself when his bosses tried to arrest him.
A source said the incident happened when Constable Martin Marambire was deployed to a roadblock on Plumtree Road for an operation code-named “No to illegal meat”.
While he was at the roadblock, he allegedly stopped a car. “He searched it and could not find anything that would attract arrest. He was then spotted receiving US$5 by one of his bosses, who swiftly moved closer to him to take the money but he quickly swallowed it. When they throttled him so that he could spit it, he then wetted himself,” said the source.
Desperate to find the exhibit, his bosses searched him but could not find anything. They then threatened to detain him before they decided to arrest him.
He is set to appear for a disciplinary hearing before an internal ZRP court at Nkulumane District Headquarters, where he will be represented by his lawyer Tinashe Dzipe. — B-Metro
Bishop steals from congregant
A 65-year-old Mutare-based African Apostolic Church bishop allegedly broke into a congregant’s house and stole US$10 800.
Charles Tekeshe recently appeared before a Mutare magistrate, charged with unlawful entry into premises, as defined in Section 131(2) (e) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.
According to the prosecutor, Tekeshe broke into Mr Hedsen Mabhutso’s house through the window and stole US$10 800.
“On May 18, 2021, in Dangamvura, Mutare, Mr Mabhutso locked his children in the house and left for his workplace in the company of his wife. He secured all his property, including the US$10 800, which was stashed under the bed in his bedroom.
“Around 10am, Tekeshe was seen arriving at Mr Mabhutso’s house by the complainant’s eight-year-old son. Tekeshe was holding a blue box in his hands.
“Tekeshe inquired whether the complainant and his wife were present, through the window, and was told they were away,” said the prosecutor.
He is said to have ordered the minor to open the kitchen window.
The child complied and Tekeshe got into the house through the window.
“While inside the house, Tekeshe proceeded to Mr Mabhutso’s bedroom, where he stole US$10 800, before going out through the same window,” said the prosecutor.
After stealing the money, the bishop allegedly ordered the minor to wipe off his feet and fingerprints using a cloth.
The complainant proceeded to file a report at the police in Dangamvura. Tekeshe was eventually arrested but nothing was recovered. — Manica Post
