EVERYONE has “that” neighbour on their floor, or street who they’d secretly love to move to Mars and never see again.
Such is the prayer of a woman from Bulawayo’s Nkulumane suburb who is at odds with her neighbour who accuses her of witchcraft.
Da Ndlovu approached the court and sought a peace order against her neighbour Lucia Moyo and her husband Vengai Matinengi claiming they were always insulting her together with her family saying they were witches.
“I have a problem with my neighbour Lucia Moyo and her husband Vengai Matinengi.Sometime in September this year Lucia insulted me while accusing me of bewitching them. She also claimed they were told by prophets they consulted that during their absence we sprinkle water in their yard.
“On 30 November they insulted us again saying my daughters are prostitutes who bore children at a tender age. We went to Tshabalala Police Station for help and that is when they advised us to apply for a peace order against them. This was also after they failed to listen to elders in the community, we had engaged to reprimand them,” said Ndlovu. She told the court that she does not want her neighbour to shout at her.
Moyo, who didn’t come to court, was being represented by her husband who didn’t dispute the accusations levelled against them.
Presiding magistrate Ulukile Ndlovu granted the peace order in Ndlovu’s favour which spells that Moyo and her husband should not verbally and physically abuse her or threaten her in any way.
