Nyanga were initially sentenced to 30 years apiece before 10 years each were conditionally set aside.
The duo pounced on the elderly couple on February 5 at midnight and forced them to lie on the ground naked.
They later took turns to rape the woman while her husband lay on the ground under guard.
Rusape regional magistrate Mr Clever Tsikwa jailed the two after they pleaded guilty to two counts of rape each.
Although each of the two rapists assaulted the woman once, they were charged with two counts each because they assisted each other in committing the offence on both counts.
Rusape area public prosecutor Mr Tirivanhu Mutyasira, submitted that the two degraded the married elderly woman and that they even disrespected the helpless old man who watched while his wife was being raped.
He called for a lengthy prison term as a warning to the other offenders.
Mr Tsikwa agreed with the State’s submissions in aggravation and imposed the lengthy prison term.
The court also considered the trauma that the elderly woman went through and the torture the 80-year-old husband suffered.
Facts are that on February 5 this year the two stormed the old couple’s home at Samanga Village under Chief Mutasa at midnight while armed with some sticks.
They posed as detectives who were investigating a rape case.
The two informed the couple that their son had committed rape in Mutare and that they wanted to take him to Mutare Central Police Station. The couple got out of the house to explain that their son was not at home and were ordered to lie down before the two raped the woman.
Neighbours helped to apprehend one of the rapists before he left the village.
A police report was made and the other suspect was arrested the following day.
