A man who did not like playing the waiting game with his wife damaged her eye and fractured her arm for coming home late.

Ntokozo Bhebhe (29) from Village 2 in Dromoland in Inyathi was not amused when his 31-year-old wife Siphilisiwe Dube (31) came home around 9pm from church.

On trying to explain the reason for coming home late, Dube was clobbered with a knobkerrie because her explanation was not good enough.

As a result she sustained a fractured left arm and injured right eye. She was thenA ferried to Inyathi District Hospital for treatment.

That is when the nurses discovered that her right eye was injured and could not see.

A police report was then filed.

Bhebhe has since appeared before magistrate on circuit in Inyathi, Stephen Ndlovu, facing an assault charge.

He pleaded guilty and asked for leniency.

a?I got jealous after my wife failed to come home at the agreed time (6pm) and out of anger I had to hit her. I apologise for my unbecoming actions and beg not to be sent to jail because I am a breadwinner. I am afraid my children will suffer,a? said Bhebhe.

Dube nailed her husband saying he emotionally and physically abuses her.

a?My husband always beats me up and accuses me of always coming home late and he says he regrets ever marrying me,a? said Dube.

The magistrate remanded Bhebhe in custody to 24 March for sentencing.
