A BUDIRIRO woman has been commended by her community for helping orphans, and children, living with HIV.

Egnes Chikovo, founder of Flowers of Hope Children’s Trust, told H-Metro, at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show yesterday, she was inspired by charities she previously worked for, to help the needy.

She opened the foundation in 2013 after people kept coming to her for help.

Her charity currently caters for minors from zero to 15 years.

“My children advised me to open a foundation when people kept coming to me for help.

“We provide a place of safety with the help of the police.

“Some children stay with their parents and others are staying at my house.

“Last term, we found donors for the Grade 7 exam registration fees for some of our children,” she said.

Francis Shonhiwa, who is also a member of Flowers of Hope Children Trust, said they teach the children drama and music every Saturday.

“So far we have 38 children we are helping,” Shonhiwa said.
