A 20-YEAR-OLD man was handed a five year prison sentence for attempting to rape a 37-year-old woman who was walking to Nyamande Business centre in Masvingo.
On 3 November 2024 the accused approached the woman around 12pm
He stripped, jumped into her path and demanded sexual relations before clutching her by the hands and forcing her to the ground.
He got more than he bargained for when the woman overpowered him, roughed him up and pulled his manhood.
She fled and left him wriggling in pain.
In a statement on X, the National prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said, “A 20-year-old man from Chief Nyajena’s area in Masvingo was convicted of attempted rape and sentenced to five years in prison. On the 3rd of November 2024 at about midday, the offender accosted a 37-year- old woman who was walking to Nyamande Business Centre. He jumped onto her path, naked and demanded to have sexual relations with her. He grabbed her by the hands and forced her to the ground. The complainant resisted, pulled his manhood and escaped leaving the man writhing in pain. A report was made to the Police leading to his arrest.”
