Woman behind water awards

woman who enthusiastically initiated and oversaw the implementation of the Youth Action for Improved Water Quality in Zimba-bwe.
Even the statement accompanying the Water Champion Awards winners an-nouncements, specifically mentions the Zinwa Quality Assurance Manager, Nyaradzayi Matenga by name. This will naturally leave people asking, who this woman. Mrs Matenga, is the Quality Assurance Manager at Zinwa and has intense interest in water issues and human development.
Mrs Matenga worked as a teacher for seven months before joining the Zimbabwe National Water Authority in 1998, then still the Department of Water Development as a Water Quality Scientist. During the period she dealt with issues of water quality monitoring, water pollution control and monitoring and was one of the pioneers of the implementation of the Polluter Pays Principle in Zimbabwe.
While serving in that capacity she furthered her education and was awarded an MSc in Water Resources Engineering and Management from University of Zimbabwe in 2004.
In 2005, she was then promoted to her current position.
Presently she is responsible for all the quality assurance matters of Zinwa’s sewage operations, raw and clear water supplies. She was instrumental in the development of guidelines for the section’s operations and Chemical Policy Document for Zinwa.
