A WOMAN, who was accused of murdering her husband, has been found not guilty and acquitted by the High Court.
Tendai Tavarwisa was cleared of the murder after the prosecution failed in its bid to prove beyond reasonable doubt that she was responsible for the 2023 death of her husband, Killian Dheka.
Tavarwisa was arrested at a funeral where her in-laws accused her of assaulting Dheka and smashing his head on the floor, leading to his death.
The in-laws went on to stop the burial process and called for a post-mortem which stated that he died from head trauma.
However, High Court Judge Justice Munamato Mutevedzi found that there was no evidence that Tavarwisa assaulted the deceased.
“There is just no evidence that she did. If she locked him out of the house on a bitterly cold night then she was cruel.
“But we are a court of law and not a church which would judge a woman on the basis of morality.
“Her story relating to what happened is reasonably possibly true. That said, it can only mean that the prosecution failed in its bid to prove that beyond reasonable doubt, that the accused committed this murder.” a doctor but Dheka later died.
