A 64-YEAR-OLD woman from Chivi allegedly committed suicide by poisoning following an argument with his daughter-in-law over a missing cellphone, police have confirmed.
Acting Masvingo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nkululeko Nduna said the incident happened on Sunday last week at around 9pm.

He identified the deceased as Teline Chidawo of Zenda Village under Chief Chivi.
Asst Insp Nduna said Chidawo returned from a beer drink and could not locate her cellphone that she had left in the bedroom hut.

After failing to locate her Nokia cellphone, she accused her daughter-in-law, Linet Nharingo (28) of having stolen the cellphone.

This did not go down well with Nharingo and a misunderstanding ensued between the two leading to a heated argument.

The pair then went to bed in different rooms.
The following morning, Chidawo was seen by a neighbour, Esinathi Tongodenya lying on the ground experiencing breathing difficulties and beside her was a pesticide.

Chidawo told Tongodenya that she took the poison but could not tell her the reason.
She was rushed to the nearest clinic but died on the way.

A report was made to the police who attended the scene and took the body to Chivi Mission Hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
