Woman commits suicide

peg from Harare. Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“We received information about the death of a woman from Good Hope aged 50 who was struck and killed by a combined goods and passenger train which was proceeding to Chinhoyi.”

Chief Supt Nyathi said Constance Mhembere (50) allegedly jumped onto the railway line on seeing the train approaching opposite Biltrans Transport in Mount Hampden.
He said police investigations were in progress with a view to establish what actually transpired.

When the Herald visited the scene, people from the area were still milling around with the body  lying lifeless next to the railway line.

One of the people only identified as Gezi could be seen following the railway line collecting some body parts. The deceased’s relative Ms Rachel Ndakurirwa, said that she could not come to terms with the tragedy.
