A Dzivaresekwa Extension man has allegedly been raping his neighbour’s daughter aged 13 since November last year.
The accused pleaded with his neighbour for the teenager to look after his blind aunt and ended up raping her.
The case came to light on Sunday when the teenager told the aunt about the heinous act after she felt pain in her private parts.
The accused was immediately arrested.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case.
“Police arrested a Dzivaresekwa Extension man for raping a Grade 7 pupil,” said Insp Chakanza.
“Circumstances were that sometime in November 2023, the accused person requested the complainant from her mother to care for his blind aunt overnight for a certain period.
“One day during the same month the complainant was sleeping with the blind aunt when the accused person lifted her to his bedroom.
“The complainant woke up in the complainant’s bedroom, who raped her three times without protection. “The complainant tried to scream but the accused threatened to stab her with a knife and kill her she divulged the matter.
“After the act, the accused lifted her back into the spare bedroom where she was sleeping. “Accused raped her on several occasions till January 2024,” said Insp Chakanza.
The minor child has since been referred to Parirenyatwa Hospital for medical examination.
