schoolgirls by inserting her fingers in their private parts.
Sosina Madzimure (31) of Plot 41 Shanga Farm, Beatrice is now facing 10 counts of aggravated indecent assault of girls aged between 11 and 15.
She was not formally charged when she appeared before Chitungwiza regional magistrate Mr Temba Kuwanda who remanded her out of custody on US$50 bail to August 5 for trial.
Prosecutor Mr Mugaviri Mugaviri told the court that on October 17 last year, at Kerryboom Primary School, Madzimure inserted her fingers into the private parts of the 15 girls. She allegedly accused them of engaging in sexual activities with boys and reportedly decided to test their virginity.
It is alleged that on the day in question, the Grade Seven pupils from Tagarika and Muvande Primary School were at Kerryboom Primary School writing their examinations when the accused committed the offence.
As the caretaker of the children, Madzimure went to the girls’ quarters where they were sleeping and instructed them to open their legs for her to examine whether they were virgins one by one.
It is also alleged that she threatened them with assault if they disclosed the crude act to anyone.
However, the matter came to light when the children informed their parents who later made a report to the police.
