A WOMAN has taken her husband to court, accusing him of verbally and physically abusing her for refusing to be in a polygamous marriage.

Mrs Nancy Zvonewa made the allegations against her husband Mr Moses Zenge at the Harare Civil Court.

She said her husband insulted and harassed her in front of their kids, calling her useless.

“He insults me in front of my kids, calling me useless. He said he does not know what he was thinking when he married me because he likes my friend,” she said.

“He is forcing me to meet his girlfriend, saying that he wants polygamy. He wakes me up at midnight to make him porridge.”

Mr Zenge did not deny the allegations, but accused his wife of invading his privacy.

“She took my phone and went through everything and found out that I had a girlfriend,” Mr Zenge said.

“She talks too much and she is lying that I said I love her friend.”

Presiding magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam ordered Mr Zenge not to insult, harass or assault his wife.
