HAVING been fed up by her daughter’s wayward behaviour, a Chipinge woman was left with no option, but to approach the Civil Court praying for protection.Mrs Rejoice Gata from Gaza O high-density suburb approached Chipinge Civil Court praying for protection against her own daughter, Beauty Gata.
Magistrate, Mrs Sharon Chipanga presided over the matter.
Besides applying for protection, Mrs Gata told the court that she wanted Beauty barred from visiting her house and should stop harassing her.
Asked by the magistrate how her daughter disturbs her peace, Mrs Gata said Beauty was in the habit of bringing different boyfriends to her house. She also said Beauty was also stealing her property.
‘’Your Worship, Beauty is a nuisance at my place. She brings her boyfriends to my house and uses my own bedroom as their love nest. This is tarnishing my image in the society.
“Last week, I went to Harare and left her in charge of the house. Upon my return I got the shock of my life as everything in the house was upside,’’ said Mrs Gata.
‘’She was using my bedroom and my blankets to sleep with her boyfriends. I also recovered some used condoms which were in my foodstuff. I was so angry and this triggered my hypertension,’’ she added.
She added that her daughter was also in the habit of selling and vandalising her property as well as labeling her a witch.
Mrs Gata also said Beauty would use unprintable words to insult her.
‘’I have engaged other relatives to counsel her, but this has been in vain. She does not listen to anyone. This led me to approach this court today for assistance,’’ added Mrs Gata
However, Beauty disputed all her mother’s statements and labeled her jealous.
‘’My mother ordered me to give her the money that my ex-husband is paying as maintenance for our child.
“She always claims it saying she is the one who knows how to use it and this is why she frequently harasses me,’’ said Beauty.
Having said this, Mrs Chipanga advised the two to settle their misunderstandings peacefully as mother and daughter before approaching the courts.
In her ruling, she ordered Beauty not to visit her mother’s place and not to disturb her peace.
