A RUSAPE woman has been fined $5 000 for bedding a married man. The illicit affair began last year as the two love birds enjoyed themselves in the matrimonial bedroom each time the wife was at work. Vimbai Muradzikwa (32) a nurse at Rusape General Hospital filed her case against Nicklet Shumba (40) a cross-border trader, claiming $10 000 as adultery damages.
She told the court that, Shumba was having an adulterous affair with her husband Tendai Mushonga (35).
In her affidavit, she stated that the other day when she was on night duty, Shumba came to her house and proceeded to her bedroom. When she came from work the following morning she was advised by her young sister and maid that the two had slept in her bedroom.
She called Shumba who, however, denied having an affair with his husband.
Muradzikwa told the court that Shumba later admitted to sleeping with her husband when she confronted her.
She told the court that as a result of the affair she was no longer getting conjugal rights from her husband and had also suffered both emotional and financial stress.
Muradzikwa said her husband assaulted her and threatened to commit suicide if she tried to sue her girlfriend.
Under cross examination, Muradzikwa’s younger sister and the maid said Shumba visited their house on numerous occasions.
Responding to the claims, Mushonga admitted that he had fallen in love with Shumba, but claimed that the affair only lasted for four months.
He also admitted that he had been caught on several times with Shumba.
Shumba also pleaded guilty, but told the court that the relationship had ended. She also argued that when she fell in love with Mushonga she was not aware that he was married.
She, however, challenged Muradzikwa to produce tangible evidence to prove her claims.
The court heard that Muradzikwa once caught the two love-birds at Shumba’s place around 11pm.
She saw her husband hiding in a wardrobe covered with pillows. A police officer who was on patrol on the said date intervened and he gave evidence in court that the two had truly been caught in a compromising position.
