Woman found dead near church

Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the incident.

He said investigations were in progress and said police were treating it as a murder case.

“We received a report following the death of Vheremu who was found dead and naked with two deep cuts on her right eye on Monday morning near a Roman Catholic Church building.

“Her body was discovered by Chinhive who was passing by and our investigations are in progress to establish what transpired,” he said.

Insp Mabgweazara said Vheremu was last seen on June 30 at around 1am by her colleagues at a musical show at Lions’ Den.

It is alleged that on June 29 Vheremu left home at around 3pm after informing her brother Brighton Vheremu (22) that she was going to Chinhoyi town but never returned home that day.

Her body was found in the morning of July 1 lying outside a Lions Den Roman Catholic Church and a report was made at Murereka police station.

Murereka police and CID Chinhoyi attended the scene.

Her body was taken to Chinhoyi provincial hospital mortuary for postmortem. Insp Mabgweazara appealed to all those who last saw her attending the musical show and those who know the person she was last seen with to come forward and assist police with investigations.
