CONTINUOUS threats and abuse from her ex-husband forced a Mutare woman to approach the civil courts praying for a protection order.
Appearing before Mrs Anniah Ndiraya, Nyarai Joyline Matsiya told the court that Best Matsikesimbi was abusive and jealousy.
She said he frequented her workplace and place of residence causing mayhem.
“This man is jealousy of me, Your Worship.
“I can’t withstand his abuse anymore for he comes to my workplace disturbing my peace. I now need the law to protect me.
“He visits my workplace and assaults me in front of my employer.”
Asked to explain his actions Matsikesimbi admitted to assaulting the complainant saying he was hurt because she left him for another man.
“I admit that I assaulted her Your Worship, out of anger because she had double crossed me with another man and she even sired a baby with that man.
“I also threatened her with an axe because I wanted to talk to her with her new husband,” he said.
Matsiya told the court that she left him because he was failing to look after the family.
“He is irresponsible and lazy.
“He can’t even put food on the table for his children, Your Worship,” she said.
Mrs Ndiraya granted the protection order which bars Matsikesimbi from visiting Matsiya’s place of residence and her workplace.
