Woman granted peace order against brother’s irksome married girlfriend

A WOMAN from Magwegwe North suburb was yesterday granted a peace order against her brother’s troublesome married girlfriend by Bulawayo magistrate, Ms Sibongile Msipa. Nelia Dzingopana had applied for a peace order against Siphiwe Nkomo of House Number 3760 Magwegwe North, accusing her of causing disharmony within the family.

In her founding affidavit presented before Ms Msipa at the Bulawayo Civil Court yesterday, Ms Dzingopana said the family had expressed concern over Nkomo’s adulterous affair with their brother, Anwell.

“Your Worship, I wish to apply for a peace order against Mrs Siphiwe Nkomo of House Number 3760 Magwegwe North. She is a married woman yet she continues to have an affair with my brother, Anwell Dzingopana. Our mother tried to talk to my brother pertaining to their illicit relationship but to no avail. She keeps coming to our home and as a family we respect her husband and we don’t want to cause any trouble.

“We have approached our local councillor and the chairperson of the Magwegwe Residents Association and they both tried to talk to Nkomo but she doesn’t want to listen and we are now tired of fighting her each time she visits our home. We therefore need a peace order so that she (Nkomo) stops coming,” said Nelia.

However, in her defence, Nkomo argued that she only visited the Dzingopana home to drink beer, saying they were operating a shebeen.
When the magistrate asked Nkomo why she insisted on frequenting the shebeen despite concerns raised by the applicant’s family, she responded: “Your Worship, Anwell owes me money and we therefore made an arrangement so that I could come and drink beer at their shebeen as a way of settling the debt.”

Nelia also denied that they were operating a shebeen. Ms Msipa granted a one-year peace order in favour of the applicant.
