A 32-YEAR-OLD Zimunya man is embroiled in a nasty fight with his step-mother over the ownership of a house that was left behind by his late father. Shamiso Manganani who was married to Tendekai Muponga’s father as a second wife has since approached the courts seeking a protection order against her step-son who wants her out of the house.
In a bid to force her stepmother out of the house Muponga forcefully took the title deeds and attempted to change the ownership.
It is alleged that two months ago he came back home at House Number 386, Zimunya Township and demanded his father’s death certificate from Manganani.
This prompted Manganani to approach the courts seeking protection in the face of increasing interference from her step-son.
She told the court that she was no longer enjoying the estate of her late husband together with her two minor children.
“He grabbed the title deeds to the house after his father passed away and it was not by consent. There is nothing I could do because soon after the burial of his father my husband’s relatives left. He is the only one who is around. Two months ago he came back to stay in Zimunya and he is constantly nagging me over his father’s death certificate.
“I cannot give him. What if he sells the house, where will I go with these two children his father left me with? This ownership dispute should be resolved because he threatens to evict us. A protection order will help me,” said Manganani
However, Maponga was convinced that the house belongs to him since it was his father’s.
“The house belongs to my father so I have the right to do whatever I want with it. Even if I sell it or make it mine it does not matter.” said Maponga
Mrs Annie Ndiraya told him that the house belongs to her step-mother. The protection order was granted which barred Maponga from insulting and threatening his step-mother.
