WITH a few junior football teams active in Manicaland, especially when it comes to participating in competitions hosted beyond the boundaries of the province, the Chave family-owned Manicaland Juniors of Excellence (MAJESA) continues to give a good account of grassroots football in the province.
No wonder, the MAJESA Academy emerged champions of the Jordan Zemura Foundation Under-13 Tournament in which eight teams from different parts of the country took part.
The tournament was held at Wise Owl Primary School in Westgate, Harare.
Many will remember how MAJES dominated the Marvelous Nakamba Under-18 competition where their major product so far, Prosper Padera emerged player-of-the-tournament.
In this 2026 edition of the Jordan Zemura Under-13 contest, MAJESA, which is owned and bankrolled by businessman, Charles Chave and wife, Nomsa, played seven matches, and won all.
Rise of Hope Academy of Gweru, Wise Owl from Marondera, Wise Owl Westgate, Selbourne Routridge, Murehwa School, St John’s College, MAJESA Academy and Warren Park 5 School make up the list of teams that participated in the competition.
MAJSESA’s Salah Ngorima, who scored 15 goals was the top goal scorer, and teammate Ngoni Saina was named player-of-the-tournament.
MAJESA coach, Edmore Shumba, was named coach-of-the-tournament.
Jordan Zemura also gifted his personal branded new soccer boots to Saina.
MAJESA administrator, Panganai Mbaradza, thanked the financiers of the institution for the commitment to talent development.
“I think we just have to give it all to Charles and Nomsa Chave for their passion for young children, their passion to see youngsters expose their talents at an early age.
“This achievement will go down as recognition of the hard work that is being put into this project by all who are involved, the players themselves, coaches, administration, parents, all stakeholders and owners of the institution – the Chaves,’ said Mbaradza.
