A 41-YEAR-OLD woman from Emakhandeni suburb in Bulawayo on Monday appeared in court facing a murder charge after allegedly fatally stabbing her brother during a domestic dispute.

Clara Masango appeared before Western Commonage magistrate, Mrs Lenia Khumalo, who remanded her in custody to December 9 for routine remand pending trial at the High Court.

The prosecutor, Ms Audrey Kufandikanwe, said the incident occurred in March at Clara’s residence around 4pm.

The court heard that the deceased, Mr Munyaradzi Masango, was resting in his bedroom when Clara entered.

An argument reportedly ensued between the siblings over an unresolved issue, which was not mentioned in court papers.

“During the altercation, the accused stabbed her brother twice in the chest with an unknown object. Munyaradzi succumbed to excessive bleeding and died on the spot,” said Ms Kufandikanwe.

It was revealed that Clara allegedly attempted to cover up the crime by cleaning the bedroom to destroy evidence. However, neighbours who heard the heated exchange alerted the police, leading to her arrest.
