Woman, kids persecute father

AN elderly man claims his wife incited their children to attack him over a malicious rumour that he raped his neighbour’s daughter.

This came to light at the Harare Civil Court where George Matemachari applied for a peace order against his wife Latewin Masanga.

He accused her of physical abuse.

“I don’t have peace of mind because of rumours that are being spread  that I have raped my neighbour’s daughter.

“My wife no longer wants to have sex with me because of the rumour and my children beat me up after teaming up with her,” he said.

In response, Masanga denied the allegations.

She argued that she was suffering at the hands of her abusive husband.

“This man is abusing me and now he is blaming me for things I don’t know.

“My children fear him a lot  and I am surprised that he is claiming that they beat him,” she said.

Presiding magistrate Sharon Mashavi dismissed the peace order application for lack of merit.
