Woman loses protection order bid

A HARARE woman failed in her bid to obtain a protection order against her husband for alleged physical, emotional and economical abuse.

Felie Matsika approached the Civil Court seeking a protection order against her husband, Kudakwashe Mpambawatye.

“My husband went away in 2020 to work in South Africa and never supported us financially.

“I once visited him and had to take care of him in South Africa.

“The last time he visited us, he came with another woman, and I also had to take care of them,” said Felie.

“He physically abuses me and at one point threatened to kill me.

“He also took all the money I had generated from my poultry project.”

In his defence, Kudakwashe said:

“I admit to assaulting her once when I heard that she was having an extramarital affair and she denied it.

“I have since stopped for fear of coming out in newspapers.

“When I was in South Africa, she asked me to give her a token of divorce, and that is when I suspected that I was being replaced.

“I support my family and I provide the money she used to start her projects.”

Magistrate Rutendo Machingura dismissed the protection order application for lack of merit.
