A 37-YEAR-OLD woman from Area 16, Dangamvura, Mutare, appeared at the Mutare Magistrates’ Court facing charges of possessing broncleer cough syrup and methamphetamine.

Pedzisai Sheena Sangaza appeared in court before magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe, facing charges of contravening Section 157(1)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act (Chapter 09:23) and Section 29(1a) of the Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act (Chapter 15:03).

Prosecutor Ms Sharon Mlambo said on January 24, Sangaza intentionally and unlawfully possessed broncleer cough syrup and methamphetamine at her residence in Dangamvura.

“About 55.22g of methamphetamine and 7x100ml bottles of broncleer cough syrup with codeine, which are unregistered specified medicines in Zimbabwe, were recovered at her homestead and taken to the CID Drugs and Narcotics Manicaland office in Mutare,” she said.

Ms Mlambo further alleged that Sangaza provided false information to police detectives, claiming her name was Sheena Mugwagwa.

Sangaza, who is out on bail, pleaded not guilty, and the matter was remanded to July 3.
