A 43-year-old woman contravened the Domestic Violence Act after pouring hot cooking oil on her husband while he was sleeping following a misunderstanding.

In a statement on X, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said, “The brief facts are that on 4 of May 2024 the accused person allegedly poured hot cooking oil on her husband’s face and back whilst he was sleeping following a misunderstanding. The complainant suffered severe burns on his face and back.”

She was remanded in custody to 14 May 2024.

The NPAZ encourages members of the public to desist from violence and resolve their disputes amicably or seek third party mediation.
