Woman raped at friend’s house

A 23-year-old Chitungwiza woman was raped at her friend’s house she was looking after in Mt Pleasant on Thursday.

The woman had been asked to look after her friend’s house, while she was away, when the attack took place.

She told police that her friend had informed her that she would be away for four days, but didn’t return on the stated date.

The victim said she was asleep in the bedroom when she was woken up by an intruder in the room.

The man had gained entry into the bedroom through the window.

She said the man ordered her to cover her face with a blanket, while brandishing a kitchen knife, and then raped her.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, said the man demanded money before ransacking the room and taking a Huawei Y9 2010 cellphone, 2 HP laptops and US$319.
