Munyumwa yesterday appeared before regional magistrate Mr Hosiah Mujaya charged with rape.
He was remanded in custody to March 12 for trial. Charges against Munyumwa arose in January this year.
The victim and her friend went to their maize field and were surprised to see Munyumwa masturbating.
It is alleged the two women started running away while Munyumwa followed in hot pursuit. One of them slipped and fell down and it is the State’s case that Munyumwa grabbed the woman by the neck until she was unconscious.
He then dragged her into the maize field where he raped her, the court heard. According to the State papers, the woman’s friend continued running while screaming for help.
The woman later gained consciousness and found Munyumwa gone.
She also discovered that her pants had been removed, it is alleged. The woman reported to the police.
