They were each sentenced to 18 months in prison of which four months of were conditionally set aside.
Prosecutor Mr Edmond Ndambakuwa proved that on December 25 last year, at Chirashavana Business centre in Seke, the pair was playing snooker with friends while the complainant Blessing Shava (23) of the same village watched.
Mapfumo provoked Shava who advised him to stop since he was unwell, but he continued kicking him.
An argument arose between the two with Mapfumo strangling and dragging Shava out of the bar.
They went outside where Mapfumo started punching, kicking and hitting him with a pool stick several times.
The court heard that Mhlabawo joined in the scuffle and punched Shava who lost a tooth.
Some of Shava’s teeth were left shaking.
