A Chitungwiza woman has appeared in court for allegedly scalding her husband’s second wife and her six-year-old child with water following an altercation that arose when she visited the accused’s home to look for their husband.

Pamela Chipile appeared before Chitungwiza resident magistrate Mr Nyasha Vitorini last week facing charges of physical abuse and causing serious bodily harm. She pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to April 10.

It is the state’s case that on March 24 in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza, Chipile, who is the first wife, went to look for her husband at Caroline Pemba’s place.

It is alleged that a misunderstanding arose between the two whereupon Chipile began assaulting Pemba with open hands and fists.

The accused then took a tin of boiling water and poured it on Pemba’s body and the hot water also burnt her daughter in the process.

The complainant sustained some injuries and the child is hospitalised.
