A SIX-week-old baby needs $3 000 to undergo an operation in South Africa after developing a complicated growth on her neck called Hemangioma. According to the mother Ms Constance Moyo (23) local doctors recommended that the baby — Wandile Sibanda goes for an operation in South Africa. A Bulawayo doctor Dr Henry Kuzanga told the family that the tumor was too complicated and he could not recommend any local doctor.
“The growth was hardly visible when she was born but now you can hardly see her shoulder because of the size of the tumour. We tried to get help from Mpilo Hospital but the doctor who could help us is only available once a week. For three weeks we have tried to get hold of him but we have failed,” said Ms Moyo.
Well-wishers can contact Ms Constance on 0716 388 212.
Wandile’s mother said she was living with her mother Ms Sithabiso Moyo and both were not employed and taking care of three other children.
“I am the breadwinner of the family and we are both unable to raise such an amount of money. My only hope is to get assistance from well-wishers before the tumour becomes more complicated or causes severe damage,” said Ms Sithabiso.
The doctor also emphasised that Wandile should be treated as soon as possible before the tumour bursts since it can cause serious damage to the child.
