A 49-year-old woman from Cowdray Park suburb in Bulawayo is appealing for assistance to raise about $10 000 for a life saving heart operation in India. Mrs Sibonginkosi Nyoni is suffering from a severe aortic stenosis, a disease of the heart valves in which the opening of the aortic valve is narrowed.
In an interview on Friday, Mrs Nyoni said she had been living with the problem for more than 30 years.
She said an open heart operation would be done for the aortic valve replacement to take place.
“Life has become difficult as the condition is getting worse by the day. I can hardly do anything and I get tired easily. My left hand has become numb as no oxygen reaches it,” said Mrs Nyoni.
She said a heart specialist suggested that she goes to India for treatment.
“About $10 000 is needed and I am appealing to members of the public to assist. This condition has become unbearable as it has started to affect other internal organs such as the lungs and the liver.
“My doctor suggested that I urgently need a valve replacement that will facilitate a long term solution to the condition. The pills I am taking only serve the purpose of stabilising the condition on a short term basis,” said Mrs Nyoni.
She said anyone who was willing to assist her to raise the money could contact her on 0772 322 715, 0713 187 352 or deposit money into her CBZ account, 660 208 890 019.
