A FIGHT between a Harare woman and her violent son-in-law spilled into court yesterday.

Lydia Muchengetwa applied for a protection order against her son-in-law, Thompson Magore, at the Harare Civil Court.

She accused him of being violent and abusive.

“My son-in-law turned out to be a very violent man after his marriage.

“He always beats up his wife.

“Every time she runs away from him and comes home, he follows and damages my property.

“He assaults and insults me at my house and when he comes across me in public.

“If possible, I want him to be barred from coming to my house.”

Thompson was not in court to defend himself and magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted the application in default.

He was ordered not to harass, threaten, insult or visit his mother-in-law’s house.
