A woman from Gwabalanda suburb in Bulawayo survived death by a whisker when a knife wielding man allegedly stormed into her bedroom and stabbed her on the forehead before taking cash.
A family relative who requested anonymity said the unknown man used a sharp object to break the burglar bar door and gained entry into the house.
The relative said the stranger who was armed with an sharp object and a knife headed straight to Landile Moyo (48)’ s bedroom.
The source went on to say the unknown man demanded cash from Moyo.
“He demanded cash from her but Moyo told him that she did not have it. The man was not amused by that and stabbed her on the forehead with an okapi knife,” said a family member.
The family insider said Moyo collapsed and bled profusely. The relative said the unknown man ransacked the house and found US$10.
“He found US$10 and a J2 cellphone and fled with the loot,” said a relative.
Moyo’s niece woke up to find her in agony lying in a pool of blood.
“When her niece who sleeps in another room was going to relieve herself at around 1am, she got shocked to see her writhing and groaning in a pool of blood. She phoned an ambulance and she was ferried to Mpilo Central Hospital,” said a source.
A report was made at Luveve Police Station.
Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident.
“We are investigating a case where a 48-year-old woman from Gwabalanda suburb was stabbed and robbed of cash. The suspect is on the run,” said Asst Insp Msebele.
She appealed to members of the public to assist with information that may lead to the arrest of the man.
“We are appealing to members of the public who have information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect to contact any nearest police station,” she said.
