A HARARE woman yesterday sought a peace order against her stepson citing abuse and harassment.

Melody Chikoveve accused her stepson, Tavona Chirikumarara, of assaulting and threatening to poison her.

Magistrate Nyasha Marufu granted her the peace order.

“Tavona came to my house during his father’s illness and insulted me saying that I was not taking care of him. He then said he was going to poison me.

“After his father’s death, he moved out and left his belongings behind, and I asked him to come and collect them,” said Melody.

She also said Tavona was now in the habit of unlocking the house during her absence, claiming that it is his late father’s house.

However, Tavona disputed her accusations, saying that he had never assaulted or insulted his stepmother, but he had gone to the house because his father had left it in his care.

“The house belongs to my late father and it was left under my custody. I moved out because of her, and I sought refuge at my sister’s house,” said Tavona.

Magistrate Nyasha Marufu advised the two to approach the Master of High Court to register the deceased estate.
